Reinvention

Hey Ya'll,

I didn't want to wait until the new year to take stock in my stock(self). As i've stated before, i don't make resolutions because i think it's societal thing that sets you up for failure and all we do is keep making the same resolutions year after year because we can, what's the point?

However, there is a lot of value in taking stock of your life. I came to this realization after reading an article on reinvention (not that i didn't think about it before but i think the article made it clearer). It's about knowing you need to change or you need change but you're stuck.

The reinventing of ones self could be mental, physical, spiritual or all of the above. For some, the rut may come from staying in a job you hate because it fits your immediate needs or being in a bad relationship because your self-esteem is low or a weight gain/loss issue. For me, it's about BSIXTEE6 and how i see it and what i need it to be in order for me to deem it a success.

After 10 years in the music industry and a host of high-end retail jobs, it wasn't so much the jobs themselves that made me unhappy but the different personalities that you had to deal with on the day to day that had me walking around with the dark cloud over my head. As Sheryl Underwood once said "I Knew I had To Do Something",lol.

Of course most people start businesses because they want financial prosperity and i am no different in that respect but what i also wanted to do and want to do with BSIXTEE6 is really make a difference in peoples lives, not a hand out but a hand up as my elders use to say,not only with the artistry and messages of the clothing but also through hands on deeds.

I'm not a fan of the "red tape" method of doing things, i believe that if a person is cold you give them a blanket or a coat not push paper and make phone calls, if a person is hungry, you feed them, not ask 10 people if you can and give an explanation as to why you should. I know my ideas are just that, idealistic. I have been told that there is no order without rules and structure and boundaries but i'm not referring to those things, i'm referring to good old-fashioned kindness, human emotion, caring about one another without thinking you have to get something back. I'm not referring to to the people many of us have in our lives that selfishly just take, take, and take some more out of some selfish sense of deserving but genuine need to uplift your fellow brethren. It really does take a village.

With that said, in late 2007, i will be releasing the first BSIXTEE6 Calendar with part of the proceeds benefitting an as yet unnamed organization, it's going to be fire (slang for awesome, incredible, fantastic),lol. I've recently began building better relationships with kids in my family (they're stars)so look out for them on my website representing the kids line and i'm dabbling in costume jewelry which you'll also be able to purchase of the site.

I'm flying high! migrate with me. Your possibilities are endless, understand that and there won't be anything you can't do.
